My Professional Background
In 1999, after completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, I received my Master’s Degree
in Special Education. I went on to receive my dual license in teaching where I was at one time, recognized by the state as
being licensed in both Elementary Education and Special Education. Throughout the years, I was given various opportunities
to do multiple public speaking engagements within local facilities, universities, school districts, etc. where the focus was
always upon improving the way in which those within the community could better serve or engage with those who have medical/physical
challenges.
I have facilitated and/or participated in Disability Awareness programs within
local school districts and continue today to offer the facilitation of Disability Awareness programs for school districts
for grades K-12. I stayed within various areas of teaching for several years and soon made the decision that physically
I had to make a change. It was at that time that I began my training as a Life Coach in May of 2007 at a school that is recognized
by the ICF (International Coach Federation) as an accredited school for coaching.
I currently
continue to pursue my training at International Coach Academy and will receive my certification by June of 2010. From there
I fully intend to continue my education as a coach as often as possible as I believe that we should never stop our pursuit
of learning and growing. Based upon the training I have received up to this point, combined with my additional professional
background, and my extensive and deep understanding of what it means to feel defeated by your challenges, I believe it is
my calling to serve those with medical/physical challenges.
To this day, I continue to pursue professional
training with the intention of continuing my growth both personally and professionally at all times. This is so that I may
serve my clients to the best of my ability. After overcoming 43 surgeries in my 38 years of life, I feel that my life
experiences combined with the professional training I have received have prepared me to now serve the community.
My greatest tool in getting through my own challenges daily is gratitude. Gratitude for all that God has blessed
my life with and seeing each day, each experience, as an opportunity to tap into my own inner strength and continue to strive
to hear and meet the needs of my clients.
Find the lessons in your yesterdays, the gifts in today, and
the possibilities in tomorrow...God Bless.
